The boathouse at Sokn
The boathouse is located on the island Sokn outside Stavanger, The building is a new holiday home located on several hundred old boathouse walls in the coastal cultural landscape in Ryfylke. The building withstands spring surges that enter floors and walls as it has always done. Until the end of the 70's, all traffic from Sokn took place by sea, and "Naustrane" was important for fishing and traffic for the people on the islands. The boathouse environment connects past and future through architecture and experience for visitors.
The architect behind
The building was designed by the famous Norwegian professor and architect Espen Surnevik. He grew up here, knows the culture and has drawn everything from the building itself to the little stool in the bedroom.

Interior
The interior is planned with an emphasis on simplicity and luxury. Fast internet and TV hidden in the wall. The kitchen has the equipment one needs and there are good mattresses in the bedrooms for longer stays. Natural products have been used for insulation and wool from the Norwegian sheep for furniture .
The furniture downstairs is designed by the architect and made of a large pine tree covered in leather from the sheep on the farm. Here you can experience the Norwegian summer night by the sea, alone or with family and friends. Feel free to light a fire in the pit on a nice evening.
Food and kitchen
There is a kitchen to cook your own food. Some basics like oil, salt and pepper are included. There is a coffee maker, quooker, refrigerator and stove. There is a grocery store and the possibility of fast food at Askjesenteret about 2 km over the bridge to the north. There is a restaurant with good Norwegian food at Sokn Camping about 1 km from the boathouse.

An excerpt that only includes the boathouse can be seen here:
It is possible to fish dinner from the floating pier. For the children there is simple fishing equipment available. Feel free to ask the host how to get crab and small fish. It's easy to get hooked when you see fish and crab gather around the bait.
The boathouse is located on Sokn Gard. There is the possibility of a tour of the farm with chickens, cats, sheep and dairy cows. In addition, we have some vegetable growing. On the farm there is also a 5 km hiking trail. https://ut.no/turslur/1113125/soknakrossen
